“HOMELY” Where and What Is Home?

The Athens Cultural Center is pleased to announce our fall exhibit “HOMELY.”

GALLERY HOURS: Friday 4:00pm-7:00pm, Saturday 2:00pm-7:00pm, Sunday 1:00pm-4:00pm

Curated by Tim Watkins. The exhibition “Homely,” will explore the idea of ‘Homely.’  It can be interpreted in a variety of ways, from the literal to the abstract. In this transient society, where and what is home? The show draws on the power of memory of home, the longing for home, the experience of home both real and imagined, the politics of home and how we are all effected physically or psychologically.

The show will include a variety of media, including video, performance and poetry. Statements from the participating artists about the genesis of their work and thoughts on “home” will be included in the exhibition. We will be inviting some of the exhibiting artists to do workshops during the timeframe of the show and plan to schedule other public activities such as readings and music performances during the exhibition schedule.
