The Athens Cultural Center is proud to announce our 16th Annual Members Exhibition opening Saturday, April 13th 6:00-8:00pm. Our yearly exhibition has grown and flourished, showcasing the exciting work of emerging and established Hudson Valley artists in our beautiful turn of the century former mercantile space. The work of over 50 artists, ranging from watercolors, oils, pastels, pencil and ink on paper, photographs, ceramics, image transfer, and more, highlights the diversity of their creativity.
During our opening reception, April 13th from 6-8 PM, four awards will be presented: The Directors Award, a cash prize of $100; The Curators Choice Award, a Solo Exhibition in the Glass Gallery during the 2019 Members Show; Best Landscape in Show and Best in Show Awards, each receiving a one year Individual ACC Membership.
In the Glass Gallery, the 2018 Curator’s Choice Award winner, Cecelia Sinclair, of Hudson,
a self-taught artist and Registered Nurse, spends her free time painting the landscapes of the Hudson Valley. Primarily in oils, her signature nocturne scenes are created with mysterious atmospheres and illuminating light effects. Notably, her fourteen-piece body of works entitled
“Hudson After Dark” captures the subtle essence of evening light in the City. This brilliant and beautiful exhibit is a true representation of her passion for capturing the dreamy pensive mood of evening cityscapes. She has held one woman shows in various galleries exhibiting this project.
