Teen Classes
Starting January
 


FREE CLASSICAL DRAWING AND OIL PAINTING
For youth ages 10-19

January 22nd - February 19th (five class sessions)
Sundays, Noon - 4:00 PM

This class is for beginning and experienced students interested in
developing a strong foundation in classical drawing and oil painting.
Utilizing classical methods of art instruction, beginning students will
move through basic drawing concepts until ready to start working in oil
paint. Using the under-painting method in oils, students will learn
values through the completion of a monochromatic painting. The class
offers individual instruction in a group setting. Beginning and
experienced students will receive individual attention and will progress
through the techniques at their own pace with the guidance of the
instructor.

Instructor Robert A. Lahm has worked as a commercial illustrator for
more than 35 years and is an avid landscape and wildlife painter.

TORN, CUT & PAINTED PAPER PORTRAITS
Free Four-Week Workshop for Teens with Yura Adams

Saturdays, 1:30 - 4:30 PM

Teens, use this workshop to develop pieces for your portfolio!

This class will create portraits with paper collage. The instructor will lead students through a series of investigations of materials and methods of combining papers and acrylic paints. Paper will be painted, torn, cut, splattered, sprayed, and textures will be torn from magazines. From this library of colors and shapes students will form a portrait. Working from photographs, students will have the opportunity to try out both realistic and expressive approaches to creating a portrait. Any level of experience is invited to join.

Instructor: Yura Adams holds an MFA and BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and has teaching experience at IS183, CGCC, and Rhode Island School of Design. She has been the recipient of two National Endowment Grants and is a 2009 New York Foundation for the Arts Mark participant. In 2010, she was awarded the Individual Artist Grant, from New York State Council on the Arts/DEC/Greene County Arts Council.
