The
Athens
Cultural Center
is hosting a plein air contest for painters and photographers. All
subject
matter must be in the village
of Athens.
All
mediums will be accepted.
Contest
Rules.
1. Contest timing. The contest begins
on
June 1, 2007 and will continue until dark on August 17, 2007. The contest is being held to encourage the
presence of working artists in the village of Athens
thus all
artworks must be done on location only. Please maintain a log of
working time and
location to be submitted with your entry. Only one entry per
contestant.
2. Entry fee. For painters, the entry
fee
is $25, $15 for Athens
Cultural Center
members. For photographers, the entry
fee is $10, $5 for Athens
Cultural Center
members.
3. Judging. Judging will be held on
August
18, 2007 at 2 pm in the Athens Riverside Park, in conjunction with the
Hudson
River Regional Festival, weather permitting. In case of inclement
weather,
judging will be held at the Athens Cultural
Center,
24 Second
Street.
A judge will determine the first prize winner.
4. Prizes. The first prize for paintings is $400. First prize
for
photographs is $100. The winning artworks will become the property of
the ACC. Second
and third prize winners will receive ribbons.
A “People’s Choice Award” will also be recognized.
5. Display.
All artworks must be framed to be
judged. The top three paintings and photographs will be on
display
at National Bank of Coxsackie in Athens.

exhibitor agrees to defend,
indemnify and hold harmless the ACC. the village and the town of Athens
from
and against any liability, claim, loss or expense (including reasonable
attorneys’ fees) arising out of any injury or damage which is caused
by, arises
from or is in any way connected with participation in this program or
event..
The ACC shall not be responsible for accidents or losses that may occur
to any
of the exhibitors or exhibits at the event. The exhibitor (or parent or
guardian
of a minor) is responsible for any injury or damage resulting from the
exhibitor’s participation in the program or event. This includes any
injury to
others or to the exhibitor or to the exhibitor’s property.
