SUNDAY AFTERNOON DRAWING AND PAINTING
Five Free Workshop with Robert Lahm
Sundays, Noon to 4PM, Starting April 18th
                 
Each class teaches an understanding of the elements of drawing - form, perspective, values, shading and composition are explored in a hands-on, individual instruction forum. The course continues with students transferring completed drawings onto a canvas panel and creating a painting in acrylic medium. Weather permitting some classes will be held at Athens Riverside Park. All materials will be provided.

Starting July

SUMMER VIDEO CLASS, AGES 12 TO 17
Six Free Weekly Workshops with Video Artist Robin Vachal
Mondays, 1:00-4:00 PM, Starting July 5th

Over the course of six weeks, students will explore using video as an artistic medium. Through a series of in-class demos, exercises, and projects, students will acquire basic video recording and editing skills. Screenings and discussions of both classic and contemporary video art will expose students to the world of moving images beyond commercial movies, television, and music videos. Students will have 2 to 3 projects to complete over the course of the class including a final project during the last two weeks. Students will be offered the opportunity to consider their final project as a site-specific installation and to show their work on the class web channel.

Six Free Weekly Workshops with Natalie Boburka
Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday, 10 AM-12 Noon, Starting July 6th
 
Each week, students participate in a different project. Attend all six weeks or sign up only for those weeks that interest you. Registration is necessary as classes are on a first-come, first served basis and fill up. These classes are free and open to all in the appropriate age group.

SUMMER WRITING CIRCLE, AGES 12 TO 17
Six Free Weekly Workshops with Poet and Essayist Kathe Izzo
Tuesdays, 7:00-9:00 PM, Starting July 6th

Filled with provocative, simple and sometimes humorous writing exercise, the Teen Writing Circle is for any teen who: a) loves to write b) is a secret writer c) keeps a random journal d) has just contemplated any of the above . . . Supportive & non-competitive, impossible to resist prompts, and easy to use writer/artist tools for creative writing and thinking. Also helpful for other artistic mediums as a think tank and problem solver.

Make Your Hat for the Athens Street Festival Hat Parade!
Free Workshop with Yura Adams
Thursday, July 8th from 4 to 8 PM.

Yura Adams will be in charge of a free, fun, family oriented workshop to make party hats and drums for the July 10th annual Street Festival hat parade.

SUMMER ACTING WORKSHOP, AGES 12 AND UP
Six Free Weekly Workshops with Actress and Director Dani Minnick
Sundays, 3:00-5:00 PM, Starting July 11th

Ms. Minnick's workshop is designed to give the novice performer a place to explore core-acting elements. Students will be exposed to theatre games and exercises designed to demystify the art of performing. Each two-hour session is an individual class and can be taken separately. Every workshop will begin with acting exercises that focus on opening the imagination. The program strives to encourage growth in students' understanding about human behavior, themselves, and the world in which they live.

Guitar for Beginner and Intermediate Players
Workshop with Pete Wagula
August 24th, 25th, 26th, 7 PM

Guitarist and teacher Pete Wagula will present a three day workshop for beginner and intermediate players. The focus will be on playing in tune, learning to play chords and advancing to playing actual tunes. Proper practicing techniques will also be stressed.
