Grammy-winning Trumpeter Brian Lynch
Teams up with Bassist Boris Kozlov

Saturday, May 9th, with performance at 8 PM and pre-performance talk at 7 PM

The innovative, award winning concert series features duos fronted by Grammy award-winning musicians.  This installment features 2008 Grammy award winner Brian Lynch on trumpet paired with Boris Koslov on bass.  Each concert will include a pre-performance “Jazz Talk” and a post performance “Meet the Artist” reception.   The Jazz Talk will begin at 7:00 PM followed by the concert at 8:00 PM. This series is a collaboration between the Athens Cultural Center and Planet Arts and is supported in part by a CIP grant from the Greene County Council on the Arts.
General admission: $ 15.00, Athens Cultural Center members, Planet Arts subscribers, students and seniors: $ 10.00.

Ralph Lalama and John Hart Team up on
Saxophone and Guitar

Saturday, June 6th,  with performance at 8 PM and pre-performance talk at 7 PM

All you have to do is put your lips together and blow, or so they say.  Find out as Grammy award-winning saxophonist Ralph Lalama blows hot and swings hard at the ACC.  Joining Ralph will be guitarist John Hart. The concert will include a pre-performance “Jazz Talk” and a post performance “Meet the Artist” reception.   The Jazz Talk will begin at 7:00 PM followed by the concert at 8:00 PM.  This series is a collaboration between the Athens Cultural Center and Planet Arts and is supported in part by a CIP grant from the Greene County Council on the Arts.

Four Free Quartet
Saturday, July 11th,  with performance at 8 PM and pre-performance talk at 7 PM

Greenlander Rhys Tivey brings his alternative quartet of young jazz artists to Athens, experimenting with traditional formal elements of jazz while incorporating classical counterpoint and rock harmony. The concert will include a pre-performance “Jazz Talk” and a post performance “Meet the Artist” reception.   The Jazz Talk will begin at 7:00 PM followed by the concert at 8:00 PM.

Pete Wagula on Jazz Guitar
Saturday, August 8th,  with performance at 8 PM and pre-performance talk at 7 PM

Sometime summer resident Pet Wagula brings his virtuosic bottleneck guitar skills to bear on his own compositions, ranging across the spectrum from jazz to country blues.  Pete also uses live looping to fill our intimate concert space with his solo guitar. The concert will include a pre-performance “Jazz Talk” and a post performance “Meet the Artist” reception.   The Jazz Talk will begin at 7:00 PM followed by the concert at 8:00 PM.
