Lemmon will share information about the Decentralization grant programs
available to local artists and how to research funding sources and
narrow down those with the most potential. This program is
jointly sponsored by the Athens Cultural Center and the Greene County
Camera Club.

Museum, and other nonprofits

Emotion in Writing
Workshop with Jeanne Heiberg
March 12th
through
June 7th
The workshop will provide ideas and exercises to help writers explore
emotions and feelings in their writing and help writer gain skill in
expressing emotions such that they resonate with readers. The
workshops is made possible by funds from the Decentralization Program
of the New York State Council on the Arts, administered in Greene
County by the Greene County Council on the Arts through the Twin
Counties Cultural Fund.

Free Watercolor
Classes for Adults
Saturdays Afternoons with Bill Carbone
Fifteen
sessions through September 26th
A relaxed and friendly workshop for adults and seniors in which
new techniques are demonstrated and basics reviewed. Participants are
asked to bring their own watercolor equipment with paper provided, if
needed. This event is made possible, in part, by a grant from the
Athens Community Foundation.
Schedule:
Saturday afternoons, 12:30-3:00 PM, May 9, 16 and 23, June 6, 13 and
20, July 11, 18 and 25, August 8, 22 and 29, September 12, 19 and 26.

Making Bits and
Pieces Mosaics
Two
Day
Workshop with Marlene Marshall

Shard
art, memory ware
or
pique assiette (French for "stolen from plates") is a folk art
technique that brings new life to pieces of broken china, glass,
fiqurines,etc. This class will take you from design to cementing
and grouting as you learn how to make mosaics for a terra cotta garden
pot. Students are encouraged to bring their own collection of
broken china, but there will be a supply of shards provided by the
instructor.

Painting
in the Park
Summer Plein Air
Class with

Ten weeks from July

through September 22nd
For all levels of
student
interested in traditional painting methods
with specific emphasis on painting sunsets over the Hudson River. The
class meets at The Athens Riverside Park, weather permitting. Oils,
acrylics with "wet" pallets, watercolors, pastels and pencil (graphite,
colored or charcoal) can be used. To ensure individual instruction,
enrollment is capped at twelve.

Working with Pastels
for Adults and Teens
Four Classes with Dot
Chast
Starting Friday, August
7, 1:30 to 4:00 PM
Back by popular demand,
this free course teaches participants to see and understand variations
in the use of color. Students work with pastels, oil pastels and
colored pencils and various types of paper. Dot encourages
students to be free and follow their ideas while learning the basics.
All art supplies will be provided and students of every skill level are
welcome. Space is limited.

Center.

Creating Collage
Three
Day Workshop with Jeanne Heiberg
Starting October 22nd
Paint with paper and
create with cloth by cutting and pasting in this
forgiving and fun medium. Start by working with paper to warm up, then
move on to foam sheets, cloth or whatever material you like! This
program is made possible by funds from the Decentralization Program of
the New York State Council on the Arts, administered in Greene County
by the Greene County Council on the Arts through the Twin Counties
Cultural Fund.
Schedule: 10/22, 10/29 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. 10/22,

11/17, from 10:30 to 2:30 p.m. with a break for lunch.

donation of $15, or $10 for students and seniors, will be
